Caron Vikre gained popularity in the 1990s and early 2000s, releasing six well-received CDs, before retiring in 2005. Now, in 2022 she has reemerged with a stunning twelve-track new release, TIME IN THE TALL GRASS.

Before beginning her solo career, she was one-half of Sacramento's successful duo, Crayon. Their two-sided single Learning How to Love Again and Carry Me Back received national and regional radio play in the early 1980s.

In 1992 she procured a publishing deal in the UK that led to selections from her second solo CD, SAQQARA, receiving airplay around the globe and charting positions in Denmark, Sweden, and Australia.

The mid to late 1990s kept Caron close to home in Northern California with the release of three more CDs: ALCHEMY TATTOO (1994), IN THE NICHE OF NON-SENSES ( 1996), and THE DEAD SWIM (1999). In 2002 she released a fourth CD, the self-produced A LIKELY STORY, before retiring in 2005. The two formers were produced by David Houston, while friend and acclaimed songwriter Anton Barbeau handled the latter.

After retiring from music, she wrote her first YA novel in 2017. In "WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH MILFORD?" the protagonist is a young, humorously portrayed singer/songwriter who lives in an imaginary small town filled with odd-ball inhabitants. It features several lyrical references from many of Caron's real-life songs. She explained,

"When I wrote the book, I imagined my audience to be those same people who used to buy my CDs and go to my gigs. I figured they'd be the only ones willing to read it. Anyway, my songs were always so dark and serious sounding; I knew I wanted my book to be different. It was a little joke to connect the dots of my former life in music with my current life in an imaginary and light way."

Now, in 2022, twenty years after the release of her last CD, Caron has returned with TIME IN THE TALL GRASS, a stunning collection of twelve songs that again demonstrate her serious side. This multidimensional offering has a push-and-pull quality expertly achieved by juxtaposing the comforts of home with the world's chaos. As with her previous records, it delivers her familiar pensive lyrics, exquisite lilting melodies, and tight Beatlesque harmonies courtesy of vocalists Gail George and Kathy Elzey.

TIME IN THE TALL GRASS again demonstrates Caron’s gift for writing beautifully crafted songs proving that she still has something to say despite her long silence.
